I’ve been shooting Mark Berry for a new magazine The Boarder Mag at my home spot. I see Mark kite quite a bit and he seems to spend more time in the air than he does on land.
Mark edits Kitefreestyle a bi-monthly online show you can see Episode 3 Here.

Hello Will,
you have some great pictures!!
I have a question for you that is not related to this specific picture but to your photography in general. I have been kitesurfing for a couple for years now and love photography as well. I have been playing with our Canon powershot 520 with the water housing that we have and I’m loving it. I want to upgrade to either the Cannon 40D or the D300 from Nikon. I was wondering what equipment your using and what the reason is for this choice. Especially what water housing your using. I have heard of a company named SPL but I would like to know what other brands there are out there and what Kite photographers are using. I don’t need the thing to go down 40 meters. All the help and info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and looking forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
jochem
Hi Jochem,
Thanks, I use Canon as they have a large range of lenses and faster cameras. I started getting photos published with a Canon 20D, this shoots 5 frames per second. I then moved onto a 1D mark 2N for more fps and faster focus speeds. I use SPL housings and but know that Liquid Eye also make good housings. If you don’t want to spend much then EWA marine bags work if you have no other option but to swim
The 40D is ideal to get started with good speed and high resolution
Good luck with the photography
Will
